World Café? What's That?
World cafés typically offer a wide variety of people the opportunity to explore a topic in detail by gathering at a number of tables and enabling dialogue.
South Island and Nanaimo World Cafés
The intent behind the world cafés held at Victoria General Hospital, Royal Jubilee Hospital and Nanaimo Regional General Hospital in Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 was to explore numerous aspects of the Oracle Cerner electronic health record (EHR) at Island Health. Numerous stations were set up to discuss where it is now, the big go-live to come in the South Island in 2024, and the changes to practice and improvements to the quality of patient care that are enabled in part by the EHR.
Over 400 people attended the world cafés in Victoria and Nanaimo, and we received positive feedback for the information presented. To expand it out to those who did not have a chance to attend, here is a “virtual” world café. Take a tour!
