Tech Talks: Moving to the Kamloops Data Center

In May 2015, the Island Health’s Victoria data centre was moved to a new, industry class data centre in Kamloops, BC in partnership with the BC Government. This new data centre provides a more robust and reliable facility to house data from Island Health’s clinical and administrative systems and helps improve overall network performance. During the move, there was approximately six hours of downtime for Cerner systems. In this video, Guy Weeks and Dr. Alex Hoechsmann share ‘behind the scenes’ details about the move and why some downtime is necessary.
